To humanize it a bit, I’ll point out that this picture is from the website of Alliance Roofing, Northern California’s leading commercial roofing and waterproofing contractors, who I suppose (I hope?) put the roof on CalPERS’s headquarters.   4. Modern roofing technologies, apparent in the accompanying photo of a house under construction in a region of Northern Australia, include the purpose-made steel hook bracket which is bolted to the truss with M16 bolt.

  5. The rafters, tie beams and joists serve to transmit the weight of the roof to the walls of the building. There are a number of structural systems employed to facilitate this, including the use of wall-plates set at the top of the wall

  6. Great picture. There was definitely a lot of engineering that went into the roof structure and other components of the building. Commercial roofing can be so much more interesting than residential sometimes!
