Entry: Why Is Obama So Popular On Wall Street?

@59 - you might want to check out how McCain cheated on and ditched wife #1 shortly after returning from his POW ordeal before commenting on his "character". She had a nasty car accident requiring 23 surgeries (happened while delivering Xmas presents) while he was held prisoner, and when he got back she wasn't the beauty queen she was when he left for Vietnam. Her reward for waiting for him was infidelity and divorce. He married Cindy less than 90 days after the ink was dry.

Or how about berating a POW's sister in a senate hearing who was trying to keep a commission alive to continue the search for who are STILL lost?

There's no WAY in this day and age (maybe things were different when he graduated from the Academy) that a kid at the bottom of the class (unless he was connected/part of a dynasty) would have gotten orders to flight school. And his record would have washed him out.

If Romney weren't Mormon, I think he would have solidly beaten McCain for the nod and this race would be much different.

dude, Newt Gingrich tried to get one of his wives to sign divorce papers while she was recovering from cancer surgery in the hospital. "Sorry about the chemo and the nausea, but can you sign here so I can be done with you?"

And then he divorces that one to marry the aide he was banging?

$hitbirds are in every party.

@62 - Obama is the candidate for a number of reasons, but one of the major ones is because Hillary f-ed up her strategy and ran it like Iowa was in the bag, and it would be a done deal by Super Tuesday. She should have studied her own party rules better. And the bitter old lady thing got real old real quick.

Mr. Willard -

What you've just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational explanation of short selling. Everyone on your blog is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

(with heavy borrowing from Billy Madison, of course)

What a circus.

Palin was a largely symbolic pick for her superficial appeal (gun totin' hockey mom ex-beauty queen with five kiddies and a strapping wilderness husband) and to send an in-yo-face to the Dems for not choosing Hillary. It temporarily kills the experience pre-requisite argument, but in the long term, I'm not sure what the net gain will be for the GOP.

Most women will either feel 1) insulted that McCain made an obvious gender play, or 2) disappointed that if he were going to choose on chromosomes, that he didn't manage to woo a stronger candidate (such as Kay Bailey Hutchinson, but TX doesn't need to be re-won, so clearly not a player). I don't see Hillraisers defecting in large numbers to vote in Palin for that to be the deciding factor.

In the event of a Republican victory in November, the thought of her being one medical emergency away from assuming the powers of the presidency is an unpleasant thought. All I know is that they'd better keep a lock on the medicine cabinet so that Cindy doesn't take a little too much of mother's little helper and pass out during a state dinner.

@63 I agree... if people are against any sort of redistribution of wealth, then they should be ready to review it comprehensively - not only the transfers to the so-called welfare queens and kings, but also the ridiculous farm subsidies/direct payments (yes, Farmer Bob gets a check to put right into the pocket of his overalls) that seem to be legislative sacred cows.

@211 Honestly, usually I'm reasonably polite, but you have just revealed yourself as having gone FULL RETARD (if not F*CKTARD) if you're stupid enough to call Secretary Paulson a government bureaucrat who wouldn't last at a "real corporation."

Here's a hint. Try Wikipedia. Maybe the Fisher-Price version since your cognitive skills seem to be lacking... I'd hate to think what this mess would look like or how it would be articulated to the press if someone who DIDN'T have his skills were Secretary...

@6 my understanding is that existing shorts on these bubbas do not have to be closed out today, just no new positions for the duration of the order.

@115 Amen brother... I've said it before on another thread - Capitol Hill is a bunch of twenty-something year old staffers running around like chickens without heads feeding information to their bosses so that those bosses can fly by the seat of their pants in a hearing. The percentage of anyone on the Hill who has financial literacy or who can explain basic financial concepts is very close to zero... a staffer's job is to maneuver from staff to staff progressively getting better jobs to build the resume with Big Names in the hopes that when Congressman Big Name gets tapped for a powerful committee or a big ticket, you get brought along.

So when something big happens, they consult Investopedia. Oy vey...

@7 - depending on her age, she may not have much negotiating room... I mean, in a few years, she might not have much to offer unless she lines up a good lipo guy to keep the hips from getting hippier... she might need prime upkeep and maintenance funds while you're trying to bridge the financial gap. Not good.
