Investor, please don't say Secret Sauce, it's giving me flashbacks to my abomination of a performance on my test Saturday.

Damn you Schweser! (shaking fist at sky)

I usually care way less than I probably should about misogynism, but hot damn - the posts in here are outrageously disgusting today.

What an enlightening comment thread.

She's right on the money re the linen. I see so many people walking around the floor in the summertime with horribly wrinkled pants, and it just looks atrocious.

Actually, Vanity Fair has traditionally had very good (and often juicy) coverage of business related scandals and other stories. Clearly they're limited to the monthly publication cycle, but their strength in covering some of these stories in a long-form non-fiction narrative is one of the things that got me so excited about the launch of Portfolio. With a few exceptions (notably the website) Portfolio has been something of a let-down; I continue to think that most of the VF finance/business related stories are superior.

Interestingly, GS's quant funds are having a strong year. Doesn't surprise me when you've cut down the assets so much, tho.

Anyone have a link to the statement text? Is it online anywhere? Is that the full statement?

I think it's pretty interesting (if unsurprising) that the deals getting done right now aren't the complex financial structured transactions of yesteryear but rather textbook and straightforward transactions. Economies of scale ... giant breweries ... Warren Buffett ... it's like Microeconomics 101, you know?

How's the sunburn Joe?

It would be lamer than lame to put individual section scores on a resume. What, "Got above 70% on CFA Level 2 Derivatives section?" Give me a break.

Anyway, I'm with everyone else - econ was my worst section despite being an econ major. It was so obnoxious of them to put two balance-of-payment questions on there! And portfolio management. That section was so fucking random.

You know, I think the more "real world" knowledge you have on a topic, the harder the topic is on the test. It's just hard to "un-learn" things that may be the convention but aren't what is taught in the curriculum.
