Call the Close
Closest without going over, guesses in by 3PM EST. Winner gets your choice of dinner with Dan Akerson or a visit from The Sandwich Fairy (TSF) at lunch tomorrow.
Oh look, the Dow hit 11k. As this is marginally exciting news for at least one, perhaps two people, we’re going to play Call the Close. Closest without going over wins, and as a bonus question, please also guess how much Dealbreaker friend Gianna Beamers took in in tips last night. Nail both and you’ll score yourself a choice of one “idea dinner” with Lenny Dykstra or a series of lunches with Charlie Gasparino, who will read aloud to you from his new book.
FYI, if we don’t pass the financial reform bill, the Dow will apparently fall 2,000 points. [BI]
Since we did two of these when the markets were in a tailspin last week, we thought it only fair run an early Call the Close contest when all indications point to a big triple-digit gain.
We’ll see if those fat fingers and high-frequency trading systems have the same impact on the way up. Dow futures were up as much as 400 early this morning.

Fat finger or not, the Nasdaq is in an official correction, down 10 percent from its high earlier this year. CNBC has the nanobox going and the Dow is off 133 points. With a half hour left in the session, it’s time to call the close. Have at it.
