Since it is a national day of mourning, we suppose we should have at least one Gerald Ford related item up today. We were going to put up this fantastic video but couldn't find a way to stretch the subject matter to make it DealBreaker appropriate. So instead we're, uhm, breaking the news that you can still buy one of those nifty Whip Inflation Now pins on Ebay. It seems that recent events haven't yet pushed up the demand for these things, so you can still pick one up on the cheap.
Back when Ford was running around as an unelected President, his administration attempted to curb runaway inflation not by clamping down on the money supply or raising interest rates, but through a largely rhetorical campaign to encourage Americans to adopt more austere spending and saving habits. Supporters of the program were supposed to wear the pins.
