American taxpayers do not have the monopoly on banker bonus outrage. Apparently the Swiss are blowing a gasket over UBS's decision to dole out $1.77 billion to its staff (or about $22,000 per employee, which is about 80 percent less than the bank paid last year), after taking money from the state. The Social Democratic Party has called for Eugen Haltiner, president of the Federal Financial Market Supervisory Authority, and said in a statement, "the bankers' arrogance knows no limits," describing the payout as "incomprehensible."
