Judge Will Not Spare Jury From Hearing Raj Rajaratnam And Danielle Chieis Talk Dirty To Each Other

The defense attempted to get Raj off on these particular conversations by arguing they had no relevance to the matter at hand.

The judge overseeing Galleon Group founder Raj Rajaratnam's insider-trading trial sided with prosecutors Monday in a clash with defense lawyers about whether secretly recorded calls involving alleged co-conspirators can be played for jurors. Mr. Rajaratnam's lawyers had objected to the government's plans to play tapes of calls, which prosecutors said contained expletives and salty language, between former hedge-fund manager Danielle Chiesi and Kieran Taylor, a former Akamai Technologies Inc. executive.

John Dowd, Mr. Rajaratnam's lead lawyer, had called the calls "completely and utterly irrelevant" because they don't pertain to the one tip about Akamai that his client allegedly received.
