$$$Madrid’s high-class escorts have found a way to regulate the Spanish banking sector. The ladies want to have their say in the economy by withholding sexual pleasures from bank employees. The largest trade association for luxury escorts in the Spanish capital has gone on a general and indefinite strike on sexual services for bankers until they go back to providing credits to Spanish families, small- and medium-size enterprises and companies. $$$A JetBlue flight from New York to Las Vegas was forced to land in Texas Tuesday after the pilot flipped out and reportedly told passengers to “say your prayers.” ... A passenger in the third row told the Amarillo Globe-News that the pilot appeared to have a panic attack leaving the cockpit, ranting about bombs on the plane and urging pilots to throttle back the engines. A witness told Fox 5 News the pilot was in the cabin trying to storm the cockpit. “I saw a guy wearing a pilot's uniform run down the aisle screaming and yelling and banging on the cockpit door to let him in,” the witness said. The witness said the man was screaming, "Say your prayers! Say your prayers!" [NYDN]

$$$I know a guy, a serious reporter and a grown adult, who, when he finds out that people have unfollowed him, blocks each and every one of them permanently, as a matter of course. It’s genius! I don’t really know why he uses Twitter in this way, it’s not my cup of tea (I just follow people who amuse, interest or inform me, no matter if they care about me or not), but I think it’s terrific! Making people DEAD TO YOU is so important. [The Awl via Felix Salmon]

But it will also be short term, until the bank trades out of whatever position it took on in the course of making the market. But if banks hedge long-term investments, as JPMorgan evidently did, the hedge is also likely to be long term. It will consist of buying something that, in normal times, should move in the opposite direction of their investment. The result is that they will be making convergence trades that are indistinguishable from what Long Term Capital Management did. Given the size of the big banks, they will have to do so in huge volumes that can come back to haunt them if markets move the wrong way."
