The son of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi was acquitted Tuesday of tax fraud by a court in Italy over broadcasting rights alledgely bought byMediaset SpA through offshore companies.
Mediaset's Vice Chairman Pier Silvio Berlusconi and Chairman Fedele Confalonieri were accused, along with other executives, of evading taxes of around €8.2 million ($11.12 million) between 2005 and 2009….
But judges in Milan ruled that the charges relating to 2005 had expired due to the statute of limitation, while the charges for the following years "didn't amount to a crime".
