The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency fined Bank of America $30 million and ordered it to identify any relief due to 73,000 military personnel for violations of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. The bank is required to improve its policies and procedures for verifying the military service status before seeking or obtaining default judgments on any non-home loans.The bank's preparation and notarization of documents used in the bank's debt collection litigation against servicemembers is also targeted for improvement.
