Remember when we talked about how Vermont Senator and Socialist Democratic Presidential nominee Bernie Sanders deeply loathes Wall Street?

Well, we might have been underplaying it.

Sen. Bernie Sanders says he's about to introduce a bill that would provide free tuition at public colleges and universities by using Wall Street stock transfer fees.
The independent senator from Vermont and aspiring Democratic presidential candidate said Monday that unaffordable college education and high student debt hinders the United States economy.

Sanders is putting the cost of literally all the college tuition at around $70 billion, which he admits is a lot... well, he's kinda admitting it.

"Now, $70 billion is a lot of money, but in a nation in which we lose $100 billion every year because corporations stash their money in tax havens around the world, that's one way you can approach it."

And since Sanders is hip to the overseas stashing, he's got a novel way of bleeding the big banks for a few bucks to help send American kids to college.

Bernie calls it a "Wall Street speculation fee," and he's been into since before it was cool. It's essentially a targeted tax on i-banks and hedge funds that move around heavy loads of bonds, stocks or (don't let Bernie even hear us say this one) derivatives.

If you're a financial sector employee and this sounds rather unfair to you, well, Sanders has a response for you: Tough sh*t.

"What we are going to be dealing with tomorrow is a transaction fee on large stock transfers," Sanders continued. "So we're going to ask Wall Street, whose greed and recklessness drove us into the recession that we're climbing out of right now, to start helping us fund college education."

Sanders will introduce the bill today, at which point it will likely be swallowed up by a terrified Senate and never spoken of again.

But still, there's a lesson here and that lesson is Bernie Sanders hates Wall Street sooooo hard.
