Before we head out for the holiday weekend, we should take a moment to see how our next president is doing.
We haven't had time to check on how things are going on the campaign trail for venal New York City-based contractor, but we can only assume that it's going great because that's what he told us during his announcement. You remember his announcement, when he said those things about immigrants?
Oh, that didn't go over well?
The comments — and many more since — have prompted an uproar among Latino groups and acrimonious breakups between Trump and various corporate partners. His outlandish rhetoric and skill at occupying the national spotlight are also proving to be dangerously toxic for the GOP brand, which remains in the rehabilitation stage after losing the 2012 presidential race.
Yikes. But at least it hasn't gotten like comically weird yet, right?
Serta, the largest U.S. mattress manufacturer, will end its business relationship with Donald Trump after he made disparaging comments about Mexican immigrants.
The company, which sells Trump Home-branded mattresses, won’t renew its licensing agreement with the billionaire presidential candidate when it expires at the end of the year, according to an e-mailed statement.
So President Trump can't even keep selling the mattresses that are "synonymous with the upscale lifestyle, superior quality and success of Donald Trump and his world-renowned empire"?
Well, we're confident that he's taking this in classy stride, as befitting a future leader of the free world. He was on CNN, and it probably went great.
"If you go to Fusion, you will see a story: About 80% of the women coming in, you know who owns Fusion? Univision! Go to Fusion and pick up the stories on rape. It's unbelievable when you look at what's going on. So all I'm doing is telling the truth," Trump said.
"Well, somebody's doing the raping, Don! I mean somebody's doing it! Who's doing the raping? Who's doing the raping?" he asked.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
