Robert Benmosche, who came out of retirement to take over AIG in 2009, died in February 2015 of lung cancer. Before he passed, Benmosche wrote his side of what it was like to run an insurer that owed the government $182.3 billion, in a memoir called Good For the Money: My Fight to Pay Back America, out today. Those of you who fondly recall Bemosche's special way of expressing himself-- such as "My balls are bigger than the government’s" and "Women go wild when they walk [into my bathroom]"-- will be pleased to hear the book is flush with fresh "Bob-isms," as his friends and family call them, which include but are not limited to:

  • “I get shit done.”
  • “Sometimes, you need to drown a puppy.”
  • “Enabling me to walk away if, for whatever reason, the work or the conditions became unbearable. I call this ‘Fuck-You Money.’ We’ll examine this lofty concept in due course.”
  • “I’ve learned that it takes a woman 9 months to have a baby. If I get 9 women, put them in a room, I won’t have a baby in 1 month. It will still take 9 months to have a baby.”
  • “Are you going to break my banana over this shit?”
  • “When you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.”
  • “When you think about breakfast, the chicken and the pig both participate. The chicken is involved but the pig is committed.”
