Some summer interns get to the office late after a late night of partying and a subsequently painful morning of being hungover. Others wake up in an apartment they don't recognize sans pants or phone and need to go through the long process of finding said items. Others, well, we don't want to spoil it. Take it away, boutique investment banking intern:

Apologize for arriving completely and utterly LATE today. There's a reason I didn't want to live at home this summer. My father is an amazing individual! Simply AMAZING.
But he doesn't GET IT. I do.
So like I said, I have no problem articulating my thoughts to him. And sometimes he gets angry. Like a child.
Trying to keep this professional. Really hard. But when people get in the way of your vision, because their closed-minded, non-introspective ways, non-adaptable ways get in the way of YOU making the most out of a world that EVOLVES, you have to push them off. Rather harshly I might add. With style. And that takes energy and time. And that, takes away from sleep. Which we all need.
I'm surprised I made it into the office yesterday. Because as a smart, 21 year old male, this hasn't been the first time I've told him off, and he's known deep inside that I'm right.
I think you get it.
Apologize again! The good news is I'll be staying late today! Very late.
As late as possible, in fact.
