It turns out, as we’re sure will come as a tremendous surprise to all of you, that Donald Trump’s assertion in recent weeks—most recently reiterated during Monday night’s debate—that the Fed was a pliant tool of Obama’s keeping interest rates low to get Crooked Hillary into the White House—has no basis in reality at all. Even his alma mater says so, as if any of it matters.

“There is simply no evidence that the Yellen Fed is doing anything at all partisan, or with an eye toward influencing elections,” said Peter Conti-Brown, a University of Pennsylvania professor who studies the Fed. “It is simply a falsehood.”
