Jim Simons is a Democrat who made his feelings about the current president of the United States perfectly clear prior to the election, unless you think “wouldn’t be good for the country,” “erratic” and “sleazy” is mincing words. So it can’t feel great for Simons to know that he is in part at fault for the catastrophe, having hired and groomed and made wealthy the man perhaps most responsible for the present occupant of the White House, alleged white supremacist and urophile Robert Mercer. He’s even still a friend of the family and continues to make the retired Simons a boatload of money every year.
“Obviously, politically it’s a time that I don’t think anyone alive in the United States has ever seen and I don’t know what to make of it,” Simons said at a breakfast hosted by IESE Business School….
“I think it’s basically terrible that we have a president remotely like our current president. We’ve had some doozies but never of that caliber,” Simons said….
“I think we can weather anything for at least three to four years — except the possibility of somebody dropping an atomic bomb, which I think is remote but it’s the only thing that really, really worries me. The rest, I suppose, will pass,” he said.
And if not, well, it’ll all be over soon enough.
