We don’t know if Ken Griffin got some bad news from his doctor. We don’t know if he’s trying to lose a few pounds to make himself even more desirable on the Chicago singles market. We don’t know if his taste in caffeinated beverages has changed. We don’t know if he’s taking a principled stand against sweeteners. We don’t know if he’s just trying to stop losing money. Citadel LLC has cut a top trader and an analyst as the firm winds down its sugar and ethanol desk, two sources familiar with the decision at the Chicago-based hedge fund told Reuters on Thursday.

Trader Hayden Jaques and analyst Charles Arbuthnot were both let go this week as part of the move, the sources said.
